Tour Through The Best Of The Victorian Landscape Architecture Awards

Roundup

Landscape Architecture is increasingly being recognised as an important in not just shaping the cities we live in, but for helping to address the climate crisis. Landscape Architects protect, enhance and rejuvenate the spaces where we live, work and play – and so shape the health of our cities and towns!

With this in mind, we are excited to present highlights from this year’s Victorian Landscape Architecture Awards. Across 13 categories, the awards celebrate how ‘beauty, sustainability, nature, and wellbeing come together’.

You might not realise how often you engage with landscape architecture. But take a stroll through a city park, public gallery, university or garden, and you’ll likely be in an environment that has been specifically designed to highlight the natural qualities of the place, and facilitate an enjoyable and functional experience.

The 2019 Victorian Landscape Architecture Awards celebrate how ‘beauty, sustainability, creativity, nature and wellbeing come together.’ The awards program covers 13 categories, from civic landscapes to parks, gardens and open spaces. The Jury Chair Mary Papaioannou highlighted ‘we saw the contribution that projects make through delivering a public realm that encourages recovery and rehabilitation, inclusivity and engagement.’

‘Landscape Architects ensure the complex relationship between people and nature is embedded through the many places that shape the way we live on this planet.’ added Adrian Gray, President of the Victorian Chapter of the Australian Institute of Landscape Architects.

Take a scroll through the best of Victoria’s urban and rural environments, shaped by award-winning landscape architects!
