Bonnie and Bliss Adams of Marble Basics are not into trends. They strive to create simple, functional pieces with timeless appeal. ‘We want our customer to have our product for the long-haul, not to throw it in the back of a cupboard at the end of the season, once they are onto the next colour or interior moment’ says Bliss. For these two, great design is as much about longevity as it is about functionality, and this ethos plays out out consistently in their growing range of functional and decorative marble homewares and objects.
The sisters have had a busy year. Over the past six months they’ve broadened their product range and materials palette extensively. Their new Spring/Summer collection ‘Unearthed’ is inspired by the blending of complementary materials, introducing deep green and black stone alongside metals and leather detailing. ‘Many of our new products stay true to our basic marbleware designs, whilst others use new materials, designed to marry with our primary material’ explains Bonnie. ‘This is our first time really reaching outside of the realm of stoneware, and we have done so with restraint’.
Next up for this prolific pair is a move into bigger pieces. After adding a small occasional table to their collection (marble topped, of course!), they’re currently working on more affordable furniture pieces to add to the range. Their latest designs launch this week at Life Instyle.
