Creative People

It’s that time again, today we’re excited to announce our next TDF Collect art exhibition, opening in just under two weeks time in our Collingwood gallery.

We are SUPER CHUFFED to be hosting ‘Mountain Sky’, our second exhibition with NSW based contemporary landscape painter Belynda Henry. The show opens on Thursday June 2nd, with drinks from 6.00pm that evening – we hope you’ll join us!

We first hosted an exhibition with Belynda Henry back in 2014, in our very tiny little exhibition space in Brunswick. Since then we’ve graduated to a bigger, nicer and more central (depending here you live!) gallery in Collingwood, and Belynda has had an incredible two years painting and exhibiting widely. It feels really special to bring her work to Melbourne once again.

Belynda is based in the Dooralong Valley in NSW, about an hour and a half from Sydney. Her home is surrounded by 40 acres of picturesque landscape and national park, so it’s no surprise that Belynda’s greatest source of inspiration is her surroundings.

My paintings are mix of the valley I live in, the places I have been, and the places I imagine’ – Belynda Henry.

Though she originally trained in sculpture, in recent years Belynda’s stunning contemporary landscape paintings have been winning critical acclaim. She was a finalist in the prestigious Wynne Landscape Prize in 2015 (for the third time!), and earlier this year, staged her first Sydney solo show at Olsen Irwin gallery.

For her latest body of work, Belynda has worked outdoors, immersing herself in the landscape. The resulting paintings explore her familiar subject matter with a new sense of intimacy.

‘An important part of my day and artistic process is driving through this 20km long valley, and seeing everyday its many changing flashes’ Belynda says. ‘Everyday the mountains in the distance, the colours, size and hues change.’

All the works in Belynda’s upcoming show are now pictured on the TDF Collect website!  We are accepting pre-sales for Belynda’s show via email.  All enquiries please email lisa@thedesignfiles.net – thankyou!
