I think by now it should be fairly clear that I am leading a double life of sorts. Aside from my VERY IMPORTANT duties as your loyal daily design blogger - it is a little-known fact that I am also president of the Kat Macleod Appreciation Society. I take both responsibilities VERY seriously.
SO as president (and founder) of the KMAS, it if my great pleasure to let you know about Kat Mac's BRAND NEW BOOK - Sequins & Sequence - an artist's book chock-full of Kat's stunning layered illustrations.
Inspired by flora and fauna both on land and under the sea, Sequins & Sequence brings together a vivid palette of bold greens, vibrant blues and delicious ice-cream pinks, highlighted of course with clusters of sparkly sequins and embroidery. It is seriously SO SO hyperventilatingly BEAUTIFUL.... but then again I must admit Ms Macleod really can do no wrong in my books. :)
Sequins & Sequence has been published by Melbourne artist-run publishing house And Collective / Erm Books, and is the first in what will be a series of hardback artist's books. They have been produced in a limited edition of only 1000 books, each hand numbered and stamped. The MOST unbelievable and brilliant thing is that they are only $20.00! Oh my god at that price these REALLY will not last long so if you have a girlfriend / sister / cousin / neice or bestie in need of a particularly special stocking filler this Christmas... well... I think I just found it.
Die-hard Kat Macleod fans might also be keen to come to the LAUNCH of Sequins & Sequence tonight in Melbourne's CBD! It will be a very lovely, low-key affair. And of course Kat will be signing copies of the brand new book!
