Kate & Kate is in the business of making throws and blankets that you actually want to show off when people come over to your house.
I used to have little regard for throws. I really didn’t spare them much thought beyond their primary purpose of keeping me warm while watching Foxtel on the couch with a bowl of Maggie Beer ice-cream. Then I got a Kate & Kate throw and became one of those people who will position a throw on their couch 20 times until it drapes perfectly. I will then sit on the opposite couch so I can stare at throw and revel in its beauty.
This unusual behaviour is likely to surface again, because this week Kate & Kate are launching their first capsule range with Melbourne stylist and designer Marsha Golemac. Sister-in-laws Kate Pascoe and Kate Pascoe Squires first met Marsha when she worked with photographer Brooke Holm on a range of campaign imagery for them last year. They instantly hit it off, and started chatting about potential collaboration.
Two weeks later designs were already being sent back and forth. ‘Her vision was incredibly clear from the start – always the perfectionist, she never compromised. If it wasn’t perfect, it didn’t make the cut. That’s what makes her work so wonderfully inspiring and unique,’ says Kate Pascoe.
In her work as a freelance creative consultant and stylist, Marsha has become well known for her distinctive aesthetic – she loves straight lines, pastel colours and geometric patterns. These hallmarks, combined with Marsha’s uncompromising attention to detail is evident in this striking new range of blankets for Kate & Kate. We predict a solid uptake at Life Instyle this week!
Marsha Golemac for Kate & Kate launches at Life Instyle this Thursday in Sydney, and will soon be available online here.
