In her life before children (LBC), Sydney based Daniela Cousins was a successful Marketing Manager for companies including Havaianas and Mecca Cosmetica, and Monster Children magazine.  However, after having her first child, as is so often the case, Daniela's priorities shifted, and she found herself planning to build a business that would allow for a little more flexibility.  One week before her daughter was born in early 2013 (crazy timing!) Daniela launched Hello Toes, her sweet range of socks and tights for children. This month Daniela is launching a wonderful little collab with inimitable Sydney stylist Megan Morton, inspired by Megan's four year old daughter Bea!  Megan and Bea have joined forces with Hello Toes to make special 'Save the Bees' socks that aim to raise awareness and to fundraise for the plight of the hard working honeybee, whose numbers are dwindling at a rapid rate. 'When I asked Megan if she would like to design a sock inspired by her daughter Bea, I never imagined she would also open my eyes to a plight I knew nothing about' explains Daniela.  'We are hoping that these little socks will help in their small way to save the disappearing honeybee not only through our donation, but by educating parents and children about the importance of protecting this tiny creature, who plays such a vital role in over a third of all the food we eat'. Daniela and Megan dreamed up the sweet grey and yellow polka dot design for the 'Save The Bees' socks, but Bea was sure to add her two cents too!  'I was so lucky that such a little firecracker was to be the muse for this project!' says Daniela.  'Bea was 4-year-old-level excited to have her very own socks, not only with her name on them but also for a cause that she and her Mum are so passionate about.  She is everything you would expect her mothers-daughter to be - enthusiastic, full of bright ideas and with oodles of style'. Hello Toes ‘Save The Bees’ socks are $14.95 for a pack of three socks - each pair comes with a bonus spare!  They're available in selected stores and on the Hello Toes website. And because she was the main muse behind this sweet collab, we thought it only fitting to include a brief one on one chat with buzzing Bea Morton herself... here goes! -

Mini Q&A with Bea Morton

Hi Bea, would you mind please confirming your age?
Four and 3/4 I turn 5 (I am having a slinky cake with a fairy theme) in November.
What is it like being 4 years old? What's your favourite food, colour and TV show?
'The Bee Movie' is my favourite and explains it all. Kids, make your parents and brothers and sisters watch it because it makes sense to all ages. I like pink but my Mum tries to tell me to like other colours too. My favourite food is yum cha and bacon butties (my sister is vegan so we eat these when she is not home though). And honey. I have my own honey in a special hive jar and my own spoon. My Dad and I make dinner on Wednesday nights and we try to make it very yummy. My Mum's friend Pip makes jewellery in bee hive shapes and baby bees, which I also like for when I get older.
Tell us a little bit about Hello Toes 'Save the Bees' range? Why was this the right cause for you?
I love flowers, and honey... all the nice things. My mum explained how if the bees die, all these good things I love will die. I do not want this to happen. I don't want other kids to think bees are just stingy little flies - they are very important for the whole world to keep on going.
You're the face of this campaign, what was the shoot like? Did your Mum boss you around?
My mum comes home after her shoots at her work and says 'Bea, how was your day... I am SOOO exhausted. My shoot today was so hard'. So after our shoot I said, 'Mum that wasn't even hard AT all'. Bea&Megan-1
