SO in case you didn’t notice, we had a little face-lift over the weekend! Massive enormous thanks to everyone who has sweetly tweeted and emailed such kind words about our NEW LOOK! I’ve been pretty anxious about the switch (did you notice?) so all I can say is THANKYOU all for your incredible support as TDF takes this next step…you have been amazing amazing amazing!
To celebrate our new look, we really wanted to do something a bit special this week. SO we have hatched an amazing plan – it’s called The Ultimate Australian Home Giveaway!
The Ultimate Australian Home Giveaway
OK so clearly, we see more than our fair share of beautiful Australian Homes around here, and I’m starting to realise there are a few key pieces in almost every gorgeous home we feature.
A beautiful piece of Australian made furniture. An original artwork by an Australian artist. At least one set of handcrafted ‘grown up’ tableware to feed your friends in style! These are just a few of the things we reckon every great Australian home should have.
ALL THIS WEEK we’re giving TDF readers the chance to win one of FIVE amazing high value prizes over five days, each of which we think exemplifies the ultimate Australian Home.
We’re kicking things off today with a obvious choice – Melbourne-based furniture brand Jardan! AS you all know, Jardan is a family-run business which designs and makes beautiful contemporary furniture right here in Melbourne. In addition to making seriously gorgeous pieces, they’re super lovely people, so roping them in for our Ultimate Australian Home Giveaway was a no brainer. We’re so thrilled they came to the party, offering this GORGEOUS upholstered Jarvis chair in TDF yellow for one lucky reader!
There are 3 ways you can enter each day.
1 – PIN IT to WIN IT! Pin the image / flyer above to your Pinterest boards using the hashtag #TDFnewlook
2 – TWEET it! Tweet the following ‘@thedesignfiles gets a new look! WIN all this week at thedesignfiles.net #TDFnewlookJARDAN ’
(There is a new Twitter hashtag for each prize, each day).
3 – Enter via FACEBOOK! Visit us on www.facebook.com/thedesignfiles and click the ‘WIN’ icon up top to enter.
You may enter up to 3 times per prize. Once on Pinterest, once on Twitter, and once on Facebook – totaling a maximum of 3 entries each day, or 15 entries by the end of this week.

We’ll be taking a little break from our regular content schedule this week only, to release a new amazing prize each day this week…I have a feeling it’s gonna get a little crazy!
BIG thanks to Jardan for today’s beautiful prize…!
…AND A LITTLE NOTE ABOUT OUR RE-DESIGN!
The TDF re-design project team! From left – Andy Sargent (partner – SouthSouthWest), me, Jesse Mallon (our main designer for this project – SouthSouthWest), Joel Edwards (front end web development – Lettuce Digital), Ryan Hilton (back end web development – Lettuce Digital). Photo - Sean Fennessy.
I couldn’t kick off our NEW LOOK without giving credit where credit is due. And credit is most certainly due to the blokes you see in the photo above! This is the project team for our recent re-design – Andy Sargent and Jesse Mallon at SouthSouthWest, plus Joel Edwards, Ryan Hilton and Angus Booker at Lettuce Digital.
These wonderful lads have worked SO hard to take TDF to this next stage both functionally and stylistically. I am so grateful for their work – there have been many late nights, meetings, emails and Google docs between us. I think I have ‘hard refreshed’ my browser about 800 times in the past 48 hours alone. I am so grateful to these boys not just for making a beautiful new home for TDF, but for being so patient and nurturing throughout this process.
Massive thankyou boys! You are great! I promise not to email any of you for like at least 12 hours.

Lucy,
Congrats on the new site. We hope you like :)
Its been tiring, but a fun project.
Angus

I’m sure it is all well worth the flood of emails and stress and late nights!
Congratulations! Lovely as always, my first read in the morning and love the new look.
Looking lovely, all round. When I lived in Sydney, I had a housemate who worked for Jardan for a while. We had the most lovely sharehouse furniture ever. I’d love to have a little Jardan like that chair in my place now. Off to pin, tweet and fb…!
Nice one! Here’s hoping I win that amazing chair :p
Awesome! Congratulations on your hot new look. And I really liked your promo launching your new site. Good luck!
What about those of us who don’t pin/twitter/facebook. We still are buyers of your suggested products; I go onto websites that you feature but now feel like we are cast aside. Sorry, but that’s how I feel and I suspect many others do too.
Thanks so much for all the very kind words guys! We’re so thrilled that you love the new design!
Judith – I do apologise that you’re not able to enter this competition via Pinterest or Twitter or Facebook. We decided to run it across three separate platforms to maximise the chance that every reader would have access to at least one of those platforms.
Whilst small daily giveaways are fine to run simply using comments on the blog, I can’t run a competition of this scale for an entire week in that way because it is very strenuous on the server where this page is hosted. When lots of people comment on this page (ie over 1000 in a day) it pushes my bandwidth to the limit. Using a third party mechanism like the one we’re using on Facebook for this competition is a much more efficient way to run a larger competition over a number of days. It gathers all entries automatically and ensures no one has trouble leaving a comment here during the competition (which often happens). Perhaps you can ask a friend or family member to enter via Facebook on your behalf? Thanks so much for your understanding!
Awwww. Congratualtions it looks amazing. As an observer it is always such a treat to see and evolution, especially one that I am so very fond of.
Best.
yes, a refreshingly familiar feel. Nice work! Looks like there was some serious Bro-gramming goin’ on there Lucy!
its looks AMAZING – congratulations to the ‘team’ and Lucy – beautiful, clean and functional design. Well done, can’t wait for the next chapter in TDF :)
Love the new look! TDF even better! How is that possiblay?
shame for people who dont have pinestrest, twitter or facebook
It looks good but I am glad that the “feel” of it hasn’t changed as it is very reflective of the nature of your work. It is also good to see you promoting and photographing with the team – a good sign that the transition was a pleasant transaction too. :-)
The new look is fabulous, Lucy. Job well done.

Was a gorgeous bunch of boys you got to work with! Oh and the chair pretty gorgeous also. ;)
Well done Lucy and team! Love the redesign.
I especially like being able to browse by topic, and seeing the article thumbnails. Makes it so easy and fun to browse the archives!
Tops!
The new look is brilliant, similar to the old one but cleaner and easier to navigate. Bravo!! :)
Very cool
slick and jazzed up Lucy.. looks amazeballs!
TDF reloaded looks great Lucy (& so do you!) – congratulations.
Love the reno – looks FAB! Congratulations :) See you again tomorrow, and the next day, and the day after….
Massive thanks AGAIN to you all, cannot believe how overwhelmingly positive all the feedback has been ! Thankyou ALL for being so truly supportive of this site… I was nervous about changing things up, but have heard nothing but lovely things all day! Props again to the team at SouthSouthWest and Lettuce Digital for taking TDF to a new level. And massive hugs to all you fabulous readers for giving me the support and courage to grow this little blog! xxx
The new look is lovely, but i’m disappointed about the competition entry. I get that server demand puts restraints on the way you can do this, but you are dissappointing the segment of your readership that chooses for one reason or another not to participate in those types of social media sites. I am not going to sign up to these sites just to enter competitions (nor ask someone to enter for me). However I’m sure that this wasn’t an easy decision for you, so otherwise keep up with the great posts.
umm have you all had micro dermabrasion peels?? look how shiny and happy and clear skinned you all look!! well done. amazing new reveal. m
loving the new look, and look at that, your all as good looking as your site, well done.
Too much good taste and good looking people for me to handle!!! LOL! Keep up the fabulous work Lucy and I think I need a Spring clean too! Love your outfit esp the pastel jacket! x
