What a wonderful week we’ve had with Madeleine Stamer! Thank you to beautiful Maddi for such an insightful week looking into Día de los Muertos and for offering 2 amazing giveaways as well (you still have time to enter- check out the details here!). Thank you also to everyone who left comments throughout the week and shared stories of their experiences and loved ones. – Jenny x
It’s no secret that Melbournians are a little spoilt for choice when it comes to authentic Mexican gastronomy. No, I’m not talking about the drippy-melted-cheese-with-shredded-meaty-bits type restaurants, I’m talkin’ real deal authentic Mexican cuisine.

Top of my list is uber cool Mamasita! Don’t get your wires crossed with the raunchy chica minx that might appear on your next google image search. No siree, Mamasita stands for proper good authentic Mexican cuisine, the spicy way (plus tamer options for the not so jalapeno adventurous like myself)
If you haven’t had the pleasure of feasting at Mamasita then today’s your lucky day! My generous compadres at Mamasita have a $100 dinner for two gift voucher giveaway for one lucky Melbourne based Design Files reader!!! I’m totally flipping out with the excitement! You have until midnight tonight to leave a comment on any of this weeks posts and the winner will be drawn at random- good luck amigos!

*UPDATE- Thanks again to everyone for the wonderful comments this week!! The lucky winners have been drawn at random and Madeleine Stamer’s ‘Sweet Calavera‘ print is going home with Janelle P and the Mamasita $100 voucher was won by Erin S! Thanks again to Maddi and Mamastia for their generous giveaways!

If you’re hitting the streets of Melbourne keep your ear to the ground, finger on the pulse and nose in the air and you’ll be transmogrified into Taco Truck territory. Fresh Mex on wheels!
Another noteworthy resource is Melbournian Daniella Germain’s recipe book My Abuela’s Table. It’s a must have for the lovers of spice and all things nice. Compiled and illustrated with love.
Muchas Gracias for welcoming me into your world during this week of Dia de los Muertos festivities.
Saludos!

Mamasita here I come!!!
As Perthie in melbourne recently I queued up for Mamasita joy. It was awesome. It was like there was a summer afternoon in my mouth! Given I’ve got a few more dates with Melbourne in the next 12 months, I’m sticking my hand up for this giveaway too!
YUM YUm YUM & so happy & colourful too xxx
YUM! Sooo happy to see more and more amazing Mexican food popping up! Where have these places been all our lives?! That corn at Mamasita’s is a total revelation!!

Thx for Mexxing us up this week Maddie. Encouraged me to post a little Mexicana myself.
Agreed! Thanks for a great guest blog week!
A Mamasita Margherita in this Melbourne sunshine = perfection!
Mexican Art and Food is my absolute fav! If I took my husband to Mamasita he will be turned for sure !
I’m felling a tingle of sadness to reach the end of the week on TDF. I’ve LOVED reading everyones encouraging and positive comments (always a plus!) It’s been super rad to read about your Dia de los Muertos experiences and tales all week even though it’s been tricky with no internet! I’ve been lucky to grab a few sneak peeks here and there from work. Best of luck to whoever scores the dinner for two at amazing Mamasita (with I could come!) plus I’m gearing up to sending off ‘Sweet Calavera’ to the lucky print winner, YAY!
Adios for now amigos.
Madeleine xo
p.s you can still leave a comment up to midnight to be in the draw for either prize. Comment away…
ahhh! I have been desperate to get to Mamasita! especially with this time of the year coming up. i have loved your guest blog this week Madeleine- so good to see so much colour and culture. thanks for all your efforts
Enjoyed the blog Maddi and particularly love Mamasita. It’s a great place to take out-of-towners for some authentic Mexican food with an inner Melbourne feel. Might have to take myself there next week for a quesadilla regardless. The seed is planted…
As much as I love mamasita, my favourite will always be los amates on johnston street
loved the guest blog this week, as much as I love Mexico and Authentic Mexican! Mmmmm mexican street stall tacos.
Muchas gracias Madeleine! Have so much enjoyed reading your posts this week and visiting your blog.
My empty walls would absolutely adore your gorgeous artwork!
Likewise, would love to take my husband to Mamasita – an indulgent treat without kids and opportunity for him to taste true Mexican fare. I was able to greatly appreciate the cuisine 31 years ago when my sister and I backpacked to USA and Mexico! In the meantime we’ve stomached the drippy-melted-cheese variety – at least washed down with Margarita!
Cuidate!
If i win the dinner voucher would it be wrong to take you out to dinner Maddie?
