Beci Orpin POP-UP SHOP at Harvest Workroom, Brunswick, opening TODAY! Photo by Elise Grace.

Mobiles by Beci Orpin – make your own mobiles with Beci at the Paper Folk workshop this weekend!

I tell you what, those clever girls at Harvest Workroom really know what they’re doing.  In addition to running their own brilliant screenprinting workshops, they seem to have roped in every talented creative person in Melbourne to offer the most jam-packed schedule of workshops, pop-ups, exhibitions and events at their lovely Brunswick studio!  It is so great to see a local creative start-up doing so well, creating a real community full of ENERGY and ACTION!  Nice work ladies.

The latest in Harvest’s stream of recent collaborators is none other than illustrator / designer extraordinaire Beci Orpin!

There is SO much Beci-Love going on this week at Harvest it requires a DOT POINTS.

- There will be a Beci Orpin Pop-Up Shop at Harvest, starting TODAY from midday!  The pop-up shop will be open 12.00 – 4.00pm until Friday, then closed this weekend (because Beci will be busy running her mobile making workshops this Saturday and Sunday), then open 12.00 – 4.00pm again everyday next week!

Just a few of the designs and prints that will be available at the Beci Orpin Pop-Up shop this week!  Photos by Elise Grace.

- Beci Orpin Open Studio – during your visit to the Pop-Up shop you’ll also be able to see Beci working in the Harvest Workshop studio, creating a new series of artworks inspired by folk tales, using papercuts and screenprinting!  God knows how she’s going to get any work done with people visiting all day long!  (Have you thought this through Beci?).  The new pieces Beci creates will form a little informal exhibition, which opens next Wednesday June 29th, from 6.00pm – 9.00pm.

- ‘Paper Folk’ mobile making workshop THIS WEEKEND! - Beci will host a unique mobile-making workshop, set to run over two days this Saturday June 25th and 26th!  Beci will guide attendees through the process of concept, design, collage and mobile construction!  Places are super limited… booking info is here.

AND just in case you’re not already super excited about all these lovely creative happenings, Harvest and Beci have kindly offered a very special giveaway for one lucky Design Files reader - one place at Beci’s ‘Paper Folk’ Mobile Making workshop this weekend at Harvest!

If you are free this weekend and would love to attend the Paper Folk workshop with Beci, please leave your comment on this post today, Tuesday June 21st before 10.00pm Melbourne time! A winner will be selected at random and contacted by email tomorrow!  Please note the Paper Folk Workshop runs both days this weekend – Saturday 25th & Sunday 26th, from 10.30am – 4pm each day!

*UPDATE thanks so much for all your comments ladies!  A winner has now been selected – it’s comment #20 – congratulations Judy!

HUGE thanks to Harvest and Beci for this awesome prize!  And do head over to the Pop-Up shop at Harvest either way!
