Shooting Australian homes every week really is doing nothing for my self esteem. There are just SO MANY gorgeous homes out there – and a never-ending list of house proud locals with seriously excellent taste! It is endlessly envy-inducing. In a good way!
Today’s picture-perfect family home is no exception! Timoli and Steve Mustica bought their gorgeous 3-bedroom house in Prahran in 2003, and were very lucky not to have to do very much at all after moving in. The house had already been renovated – so other than painting, doing some work on the timber floors and landscaping in the garden, the home has remained largely unchanged. Timoli’s incredible eye for detail has not been wasted though – she has a passion for art and interior design… so it’s no surprise this home is perfectly furnished, featuring artwork by talented friends and custom furnishings from many local favourites including Jardan, Loom Rugs and Mark Tuckey.
I must ADMIT also that I could not help but include a couple of shots of Timoli’s OUTRAGEOUSLY cute kids Milla (3.5yrs) and Inez (2 yrs). Firstly, they were kind of hard to avoid, sneaking their way into almost every photo(!)… and secondly – they really are the two sweetest kids I think I’ve ever met! SO clever and chatty and funny. My visit was peppered with hysterical laughter as Milla changed her name to ‘Justine Clarke’ midway through the afternoon and refused to respond to her usual name. Brilliant.
When she’s not chasing after her two gorgeous kids, Timoli works with her sister Jess Nixon – together they run Okologi, a Melbourne-based interior design firm with a focus on beautiful sustainable interiors. You may REMEMBER Jess because last year I featured her GORGEOUS little boathouse in Fairfield - one of our most popular Australian Homes ever! What a talented pair! If you’re after any interior design / bespoke furniture sourcing / styling services I highly recommend Okologi – Jess and Timoli do such a beautiful job.

So colorful and well-put together, but also has that lived-in look. Great inspiration for our tiny house!
Fab paintings and rugs – comfortable and interesting. Love how all the interesting pieces make it home.

love the art. Looks like a warm family home.
Love the greens and yellow and greys. Perfect melding of colours in all these shots … very warm and inviting family HOME.
This is one of the best homes you have featured. I am glad to see there is someone other than me who buys art for children and husband’s birthdays.
aaahhh Lucy I new there was a good feeling in the air this morning. David Bromley, Minnie Pwerle and beautiful design features delivered to my door, and what a wonderful sight ,children at their best, being themselves in their own surroundings oblivious to the adult design world, yet look, they belong in that photo.
Cheers Margo
how lucky am i to have such a talented little sister (and business partner!)…you rock my world xxxx
That art collection!
Love the use of colour! Stunning artwork everywhere, absolutely LOVE IT!
Wow! Steven is my family dentist and he is FABULOUS!! His dental surgery is just as lovely as his gorgeous home – I always marvel at his decor when I am there (compared to what you normally see) and now I know why it is so stylish! If anyone is looking for a great dentist, particularly for kids, give him a try. He’s in Park Street, South Melbourne.
Simply gorgeous family home. Lots of rich colours and textures that I love. The artwork is showstopping!

I absolutely adore this home! Definitly the best one I have seen. The use of natural timbers, rugs and colourful contemporary artwork creates a warm and inviting home. Perfect combination for a family home. I will use Okologi for my home!

Absolutely gorgeous, but I can’t help but be alienated by the amount of money that goes into these kind of houses. It feels like beautiful interiors = buckets and buckets of money. Is it just me?
Beautiful home, I love it all. Makes me realise we need more art in our home. Slowly, slowly.
Amazing Home Timoli, you and your sister are so increadibly talented xo Dyl
Love the dining table any ideas where it is from?
