Cute shop alert - Hut 13 in Armadale
Oh GOD how can one blogger possibly keep up with all the awesome shops in this town? I mean SERIOUSLY. It is getting quite ridiculous.
BUT you guessed it, I have another gem for you today – HUT 13 in Morey st Armadale! I am so glad proprietor Lucy Mora tipped me off about her gorgeous little store, because it is a bit of a hidden secret, tucked away in that sweet arcade of shops near Armadale train station. You know the spot, near Market Import?
ANYWAY this tiny, colour-filled shop opened in December last year, and belongs to Lucy and her cousin Melly Beilby. They stock such a wonderful quirky range of homewares and handcrafted products – Emma Davies‘ amazing plastic mesh vessels, glassware by Kristel Britcher (AMAZING) and many TDF faves including Emily Green, Sandra Eterovic and of course everyone’s favourite polka dot bedlinen by Rachel Castle! It really is the cutest treasure trove and I must say, perfect for last minute MOTHER’S DAY fossicking!
Lucy Mora is an avid Design Files reader and is super excited to be featured (aw thanks Lucy!)…. so she has generously offered a very special Hut 13 giveaway for one lucky reader! She has offered up this beautiful prize - a signed limited edition puzzle which celebrates the 80th birthday of Lucy’s Mother-in-Law, Mirka Mora! Oooh la la that’s what I call ‘Melbourne Famous’. Valued at $280.00, the puzzle was created in a limited edition of 280 sets, and they’re nearly all gone! Better get commenting!
To be in the running to win this beautiful gift from the lovely ladies at Hut 13, please leave your comment here TODAY before 10.00pm! A winner will be selected at random and contacted by email tomorrow!
*Update – thanks so much for all your comments and lovely words about Hut 13 (and Mirka!). Sorry to disappoint 191 people… but the winner is comment #46 -Alice Guest! Congrats Alice! x
Huge thanks to Lucy and Melly for this lovely giveaway – do pop in and pay them a visit, you won’t be disappointed!

I grew up listening to my mother ooh and ahh over Mirka Mora’s work, and Mirka Mora the inspirational woman. We would walk by her studio door just to see if we could catch a glimpse of her, or better still, meet the artist. We never managed to, but her work has always been a part of the lives of the women in our family. A signed puzzle would be for my 4 daughters, and a new generation of Mirka Mora stalkers! x

I love this store! What a great prize!
I was just in there on the weekend and walked into an eye candy shop!!! What a delight to see such an array of interesting design and art. I also had the joy of seeing a fellow colleague Jill, who I worked with at Figgins Diorama, many many years ago. Mirka is one of those iconic artists that were are so lucky to have here in Melbourne. She was and is an inspiration to all. What amazing achievements and contributions she has made to the restaurant and Art world. I managed to say hello to her one day in St Kilda, coming out of Cicholinas, she was so friendly and gracious. The puzzle would be a lovely piece to add to my very small art collection.
Love all of it!
She is one amazing artist. Beautiful tings that would make me so indecisive when shopping in there. now i just gotta get down there
Holy Guacamoly these puzzles are an exciting lunch time suprise!
If I a was lucky enough to win the MIRKA MORA puzzle I would give it to my mother in-law Bronny, who has a birthday coming up. Bronny is an artist herself and recently loaned me Mirka’s biography which is very inspiring.
Mirka Mora = national treasure much! And I can’t wait to give Hut 13 a visit ASAP!
Well, I think it only fair to say that Lucy and Melly and Peter have done a wonderful job creating this little gem. Mirka is wonderful and a Melbourne institution but it was Lucy who put the puzzle together from concept to reality and it was she also who designed the logo. What a wonderful, talented, delightful person Lucy is. I wish Hut 13 and all who sale in her, my very best wishes.
Wow!! Shop looks amazing, can’t wait to check it out!
Would love to be a winner for the puzzle too – Mirka is such an inspiration.
I think every woman wishes she could be just like her :)
I Love those dark multi-stripe towels- so chic
Dark multi-stripe towels walk all over my no longer flufffy, no longer white towels.
Mirka an inspiration…
who said Melbourne doesn’t do colour! fabulous and vibrant!
