Melbourne Home – Cecile Boston and family

The most perfect dining room in Melbourne belongs to Cecile Boston and family!  Antique ceramic plates from Izzi and Popo.

OH MY Heart shaped seats on these unique vintage Frenchie stools!

Beautiful European details in the dining room… love the wild berries artfully displayed by Cecile in her antique ceramic jug!  Painting on the left by Tory Burke.

Cute kitchen details (spot Charlie and Coco!)

Back garden / decking (outdoor shower!)

What is not to love about this stunning family home in Melbourne’s Middle Park!?  Grand proportions, picture perfect styling and a relaxed, unfussy family friendly vibe that makes you feel completely at home from the moment you walk through the door.  This is the home of French ex-pat Cecile Boston, her Australian husband Guy, and their two gorgeous kids Charlie (4 and a half yrs) and Coco (2 and a half!).

Guy and Cecile bought their grand Italianate Victorian four years ago, and the pair then spent time lovingly renovating the house with the help of builder Chris Hovarth.  Most of the design and styling here is Cecile’s influence – as a retailer of beautiful French homewares  she’s never short of creative inspiration!  Cecile’s nearby shop Bonjour in Albert Park is TOO gorgeous – stay tuned for more on Bonjour next week!

When asked what her FAVOURITE thing is about the house, Cecile earnestly responds – ‘Lucy we love so many things about the house!’.  (Imagine in a French accent – everything sounds better that way).  Cecile continues – ‘The house has a charm that can only be created by age. We have tried to be respectful to the era of the build in our renovation, while also providing modern, functional family spaces’.  I think we can safely say they’ve nailed it!  The home is very functional and contemporary in many ways – yet the styling, influenced by Cecile’s French background and the couple’s love of antiques and vintage furniture, makes for a truly classic and timeless feel.

I love the unmistakeably European details everywhere you look – the deep porcelain sink basins in both the kitchen and bathrooms, delicate glass light fittings and rustic antiques picked up from years living overseas.  In a nutshell, it seems that Cecile and Guy just have exceptionally great taste!

Many of the smaller details you see in this home are items Cecile also stocks in her shop in Albert Park!  Bonjour will be up on the site next week – but if you just can’t WAIT to pay her a visit, the address is on their website!

HUGE Thanks to Cecile and Guy for sharing their beautiful home!

I’m dying to know the wall paint colour. It looks really similar to ours – Dulux Limed White, and I’m wondering if we’re paint-twins :) Our place is a similar age too, also with white trim, so it really leapt out at me in the pictures.

This is really beautiful, even though there are many European inspired pieces there’s quite an Australian feel too. It looks so warm and inviting. I love the rustic pieces (especially those heart stools!) and the berries in the jug are a lovely idea.
Thank you for the wonderful inspiration!

I love the bright aubergine throw in the bedroom against the muted colours of the rest of the room. Really works well.

What a beautiful and comfy family home. Stylish and yet it doesn’t look too precious. Not surprising that it’s the home of a French family:)

I would love to know the paint colour of her walls (inside the home) – it makes it fresh, yet homely.
