Lightly installation at Craft Victoria

Cindy-Lee Davies of Melbourne design company Lightly has an installation up at Craft Victoria at the moment… The ‘Chrysalis’ installation comprises a collection of these delightful wall-mounted butterflies – each cut from a recycled vintage saucer. The natural curve of the saucer delicately lifts the butterfly wings from the wall, creating an ever-so-slight shadow beneath…

It’s so nice to see something new from Lightly, and especially a move towards recycled materials. It gives each of these delicate forms a real feeling of unique-ness….

The Chrysalis installation with be on show (and pieces for sale) at Craft Victoria until February 8th.

I love the appearance of butterflies these days (always my grandmother’s favorite). I just hope they don’t get over done like every other trend. But I love what Cindy has done with them!

Hi Anne! Thanks so much for reading and for your comment :) Yes I am loving these butterflies, although again I know what you mean… it doesn’t take long for a trend to seem too ‘everywhere… anyway a gorgeous application in this case!

Emma – Oh, yes there are similarities aren’t there? I love Mel Robson’s work! I especially love the australian coats of arms pieces from earlier last year (ie australian map and kangaroo/emu). Beautiful work! Perhaps I should chase her for an interview…!? Thanks so much for your comment!
