Two captivating Australian artists come together in a Pas De Deux with Saint Cloche to present Love Story; a luminous and deeply emotive exhibition featuring the works of Valerie Vigar and Giorgia Bel.
Valerie, a Sydney-based ceramic artist, is known for her distinctive earthen vessels that play with shape and form. Her work in this exhibition dances between ancient and contemporary inspiration, predominantly employing coil techniques to allow the material qualities of clay to manifest.
‘This body of work is an expression of optimism. It took shape during Sydney’s lockdown, through daily meditation and walks along the ocean,’ says Valerie.
Accompanying her in this exhibition is Giorgia Bel, a self-taught Newcastle artist. Giorgia paints dreamy, misty landscapes – both existent and fantasy – drawing from a figurative depiction of the Australian outback.
‘The driving factor within the pieces created for this body of work is love and time standing still,’ explains Giorgia.
Their exhibition, Love Story, is just that; a story of love, to their practice, and their work. In fact, we might’ve already fallen.
