There are many positives about easing restrictions in Victoria, but two of the best are the reopening of galleries and the resumption of regional travel. This exhibition has both!

Launching in Castlemaine this Saturday, Irish-born designer and printmaker Vincent Casey’s exhibition Transmissions explores the boundaries of vision and perception. The series of screen prints and wood paintings depict circles, waves and loops as the primary visual vehicle for exploring ideas of continuity and transformation.

Despite the bold colours and geometric forms, his compositions belie a brooding fragility that seems apt for these melancholic (but slowly brightening!) times. Inspired by optical and kinetic artists such as Franco Grignani and Jesús Rafael Soto, this exhibition marks Vincent’s move into more abstract graphic forms than his usual style.
