Since Melbourne favourite Third Drawer Down closed their Fitzroy store earlier this year, we’ve been on the hunt for a bricks-and-mortar shop that could live up to their range of quirky, art-printed objects, gifts, and homewares.

But today we’re excited to share the good news that the local business is back, having teamed up with Heide Museum of Modern Art to take over the museum’s shop!

Third Drawer Down founder Abigail Crompton will be working together with Heide’s curators to create innovative, beautiful, and witty pieces.

Their shared vision is all about making ‘art accessible and life less ordinary’, developing a range of exciting new products that draws on the history of the museum and its collections.

And the first objects made in partnership between Heide and Third Drawer Down are already available in the shop. Fans of Third Drawer Down’s iconic David Shrigley tea towel will love the new collaboration with Australian artist Jon Campbell for the colourful, ‘Yeah Flag’ picnic rug, featuring his work of the same name that resides in Heide’s galleries.

Between Abigail’s magic retail touch and Heide’s legacy in the modern art world, it’s a match made in creative heaven!
