The new Collingwood Yards arts precinct is absolutely popping OFF with the studios and storefronts of incredible local designers. The latest addition? Not-for-profit fashion organisation The Social Studio!

Moving from their old digs on Smith Street to the buzzing new creative precinct just down the road, the organisation continues its mission of providing a curated retail platform for a suite of makers from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, Blak and POC designers, and creatives from refugee or asylum seeker backgrounds. The retail space also provides training and employment for refugee and new migrant youth populations that are keen to be involved.

Housed in the sunny, yolk-yellow shop designed by Studio Goss is an incredible lineup of makers such as REMUSE, Elnaz Ceramics, and Indigenous youth label Gammin Threads, alongside TDF faves Ulo Australia, Olana Janfa, and NORTH (winners of Textile Design category in the TDF + Laminex Design Awards 2020!). Plus plenty more!

In addition to the new space, The Social Studio are working on plans to bring their range of designers and makers to an online store for the first time. This would open up the social enterprise and its associated creatives to a whole new nation-wide audience. We love!
