While this joint textiles collection between Studio A x One Another could be the work of any contemporary designers, both businesses are inherently based upon a strong foundation of social enterprise, sharing the mission to create a more equal world.

Rick and Annette Carter created their textiles business, One Another, after travelling to India and seeing first-hand the extreme poverty many live in. Launching three years ago, One Another works with artisans in developing countries like India, Nepal, South Africa, Uganda and Central America to produce their sleek textiles, providing ethical employment for over 60 artisans.

Sydney-based Studio A works to break down barriers for artists living with intellectual disabilities. Providing a studio space, art resources and support staff,  the social enterprise works closely with artists to help forge professional pathways, as well as encouraging mental and financial wellbeing.

This limited edition range features works from Studio A artists embroidered on textiles like cushions, napkins, purses and framed artworks by One Another artisans in South Africa. Thom Roberts, the artist behind the INCREDIBLE ‘Bert and Ernie’ designs, explains of his experience as a Studio A supported artist, ‘It is like I get to make my children. I make art about the things I love. I feel happy and proud and nice and good. I like getting paid for my artwork.’

In addition to their online launch, the One Another x Studio A Textile Collection will be available to peruse in person at an eclectic pop-up store in Darlinghurst, Sydney for the next three weeks, alongside original artworks, one-of-a-kind textiles and sculptures, plus handcrafted and sustainably sourced furniture by Icon By Design.

One Another x Studio A is now available online at oneanother.com.au/collections/one-another-x-studio-a.
You can also see it in person at their pop-up store for the next three weeks.
