This weekend the Slow Art Collective will be a taking yarn bombing to a whole new level!

In collaboration with the Australian Tapestry Workshop and Multicultural Arts Victoria, artists Dylan Martorell and Chaco Kato will be weaving their magic to create a series of public resting places in South Melbourne. Literally weaving them!

The DIY ethos behind their Slow Art Collective, which has been operating for seven years, is to encourage play and participation in their artworks that support ideas of sustainability, improvisation and on-site learning. Their woven project, Emerald Threads, will see an evolving structure of weaving and tapestry, incorporating more hardy materials like canvas to protect it from the elements and built in conjunction with the public.

If you want to get in on the action, the ongoing project begins this Saturday and will run every day for a week.
