If you’ve been reading The Design Files for a while, you’ll probably recognise Sally Tabart’s name from the many (many!) articles she wrote during her time as our managing editor up until last year.

She’s been telling the stories of other people’s creative projects for years, but now she has one of her own to share, launching a range of soft, dreamy robes!

Sally found inspiration for her new loungewear brand, Saule, last summer after seeing her best friend living in a ‘cute little beach robe’ that she was wearing every day.

‘I could see the whole vision immediately – a lightweight layering piece that you could throw over bathers and wear to the beach, jazz up an outfit on balmy summer nights, or even just to float around in at home,’ she says. She wanted to design something that could look just as beautiful hanging up at home, as they did when worn.

A year later, her vision has come to life in the three earthy colourways of Saule’s debut layering pieces. Each one is made by small, female team here in Melbourne, using 100% cotton seersucker fabric sourced from Japan. And they’re here just in time for summer!
