Go behind the scenes of some of Hobart’s most significant buildings and discover hidden architectural gems over a weekend in November (10th & 11th) at Open House Hobart. Now in its 6th year, Open House Hobart has become Tasmania’s most popular architecture and design event, allowing people to explore spaces usually closed to the public. First staged in London in 1992, the Open House concept now has events in more than 30 cities around the world – looks like we’re not the only sticky beaks out there!

One of the hero locations in this year’s Open House Hobart is the iconic Treasury and Finance buildings, which have recently made headlines over the Treasurer’s controversial decision to sell the heritage-listed government building. This could be your last opportunity to see such a significant piece of Tassie history, in its original condition.

‘Open House Hobart allows the community to see behind the scenes of some of these buildings, and enjoy a combination of heritage and contemporary architecture,’ explains OHH producer Jennifer Nichols, adding that the event ‘is not only about taking a closer look at our built environment, it is about encouraging a dialogue about its future.’You’ll need to book your spot to some events, so stay tuned to Open House Hobart website to see the full lineup, released on Thursday!
