During lockdown, photographer Nikole Ramsay completed an artist residency with Lon Retreat, an accomodation lodge that sits upon 200 acres of rural and conservation land in Point Lonsdale.

It was here that she created her most recent body of work, a series of photographs distilling scenes from the dunes, beaches and coastline surrounding the sprawling property. Unfold is an exhibition of these pieces hosted on-site at Lon Retreat.

As well as dramatic aerial landscapes shot from a sea plane (!) and smaller-scale detailed rock-pool scenes captured with an underwater lens, Nikole incorporates a series of female bodies into some of her compositions. These conceptual investigates become intimate portraits of the human connection to the natural world, and makes comment on the interconnected nature of our ecosystems.

Vivid, sensory and energetic, you can practically smell the ocean in every frame!
