Over the last few years, Melbourne’s creative community has suffered the loss of many artist spaces thanks to skyrocketing rentals and an influx of developments in the inner-north. One space that’s managed to prevail as a home to many of the city’s influential creatives is Schoolhouse Studios on Rupert Street in Collingwood.
A year on from their inaugural fundraising exhibition, Schoolhouse is holding another bonanza art show to help raise some much-needed dosh to help with the upkeep and maintenance of this beloved artist-run space. Testament to the significance of Schoolhouse is the top-notch calibre of artists on the lineup, including the likes of Elizabeth Barnett, Emily Ferretti, Tai Snaith and Tim Hillier.
Schoolhouse Studios provides affordable and inclusive workspaces for emerging artists and creative businesses, and engages the public through innovative arts events and programs. Thanks to the generosity of participating artists, all funds raised will go towards the operational costs and sustainability of the organisation in years to come.
