Collingwood’s RVCA corner gallery will open SPRINGTIME on Friday this week – an all-female exhibition curated by artist and curator Melissa Grisancich. Now in its third year, SPRINGTIME highlights the work of both emerging and established female artists with an open brief, with the intention to celebrate the women ‘who came before, and those who will come after.’

Mel, a finalist in the 2018 Archibald prize for her portrait of musician Courtney Barnett, has managed the RVCA Corner Gallery for the last six years, providing support to many local and international artists through her community-building exhibitions.

Artwork in this year’s show ranges from ceramics, sculpture, painting, print and film photography from an impressive lineup of local and international women! These include designer Alice Oehr; illustrator and designer Bonnie Eichelberger; print artist Allie Webb; Italian artist living with Down’s syndrome Patrizia Cercamondi; New South Wales-based ceramic artist and painter Claire Johnson; Canadian illustrator Tallulah Fontaine; a zine stand from local feminist community Ladies of Leisure; a selection of giclee print photography curated by artists at A Soft Collective, a platform showcasing the work of Australian women who shoot 35mm/120mm film photographs, and many others!

Running for a little over two weeks, this will be Mel’s final SPRINGTIME show. Don’t miss this opportunity to support women in the arts!
