Ceramics superstar Tantri Mustika and local textile designer Megan McNeill of homewares label Trinket Solo are championing the power of thoughtful crafts with their new collaborative installation, FOND.

Both women are absolute masters of their individual mediums (you’ll likely recognise them from TDF!) but the powerhouse duo have also been friends for almost 15 years. And after waiting for the perfect project to collaborate on, they have finally come together in an exhibition for this year’s Melbourne Design Week!

FOND features a selection of hand-crafted furniture, objects and soft furnishings in a dreamy domestic space, set up inside Tantri’s shop in the Collingwood Yards precinct.

Visitors can walk through the idyllic display to explore objects like an organic ceramic floor lamp using Tantri’s signature marble-stained clay, and a plush seat made of a ceramic base and tufted upholstery showcasing the pair’s strong colour sensibility.

“We wanted to make our dream interior a reality and make the process and end result about beauty, joy and a sense of fondness over a practical purpose”, Tantri says.

“Celebrating traditional techniques is a primary focus in both of our practices, so we hope the installation fosters a greater appreciation between the audience and handcrafted products”.

There’s still time to see it before Melbourne Design Week 2022 is up, and all limited edition pieces included in the installation will be available for purchase.
