Last night Lamington Drive opened the latest project from talented local artist, illustrator and best-selling children’s book author Marc Martin.
‘Long Way Home’ is a solo exhibition which brings together a series of original watercolour and oil pastel works on paper, in the artist’s signature painterly style. In this series, though, Marc’s inspiration isn’t busy cities or bustling jungles, but rather, the quiet ‘in-between spaces’ we often fail to notice.
Depicting forgotten alleyways, backstreets and parks, each work is inspired by the artist’s meandering journeys through foreign streets and suburbs. This is a show about the quiet, heightened observation that comes with travel, even in un-extraordinary surroundings.
