Australian Interior Design is enjoying a well-deserved moment in the spotlight right now. The latest project to showcase the incredible breadth of local design talent is Como By Design, a unique event in Melbourne, in which 27 Melbourne-based interior designers, a landscape designer and a florist will transform and reimagine the interiors of historic Como House.
Built in 1847, and acquired by the National Trust in 1959, Como House is one of Australia’s most renowned heritage houses. Billed as ‘an event for the design curious, for those planning a project, or those looking for inspiration’, Como By Design will see 25 rooms within the property temporarily re-decorated by 27 celebrated local designers, for a three day showcase.
Conceived in response to the hugely successful ‘show house events’ in New York, Los Angeles and London, Como By Design is the brainchild of Tigger Hall, a legend in Melbourne’s interior design world.
‘It has long been a dream of mine to organise a project such as this’ Tigger says. ‘The motivation behind Como by Design is to bring the Melbourne Design Community together and to show the quality of design in the Melbourne. We have such amazing talent in this country, I feel so proud to be a part of it, I want to create a platform to showcase the unique and bespoke talents in Melbourne’
