Heide Museum of Modern Art has been an Australian art institution for forty years now (!), and to celebrate they’ve partnered with five Australian artists to create a series of objects and artist multiples inspired by the gallery’s story. These will be released as shoppable, limited-edition pieces.
Local artists and makers Tai Snaith, Melanie Katsalidis, Alpha60, Dean Cross and Glenn Barkley have each created a work that responds to the museum’s history, exhibition programs and contemporary influence spanning jewellery, ceramics, scarves, a print and a wearable vessel. Melanie Katsalidis’ necklaces are even named after legendary women in the Heide circle: Sunday Reed, Cynthia Reed Nolan and Mirka Mora!
The limited edition pieces will be displayed at the Heide Shop from November 12th, and available to shop in-store and online from this date. But get in quick, there are only 40 reproductions of each!
This collection marks the start of the Heide Editions, a series of collaborations with local artists that will see bespoke artworks realised as collectable, limited edition pieces throughout the year.
