First held in 1988, The Melbourne Art Fair  (MAF) brings together over 40 galleries from across Australia, New Zealand, and the wider region. This year’s blockbuster iteration sees leading contemporary artists including some of our favourites – like Esther Stewart, Cressida Campbell and Mirka Mora – unveiling exciting new works, alongside emerging creatives ripe for your discovery!

Back after a two-year break, MAF2018 is presented across two new venues within the Southbank Art Precinct (alongside ACCA): Vault Hall, a 2,000-square-metre marquee, and The Martyn Myer Arena Riding Hall, a heritage space recently converted by Kerstin Thompson Architects.

In addition to the artwork, The Fair has curated a host of accompanying talks and events at Melbourne Art Week partner venues for a holistic cultural experience. Visitors can embrace the Melbourne winter and stay warm beside an open fire with mulled wine at Melbourne Art Fair Friday Up Late. Our friends at I Am George and Four Pillars Gin will be hosting a bar in the ACCA courtyard.

Also don’t miss the Visual Arts Awards at ACCA on Saturday, August 4th, celebrating contemporary art across three categories; Artist, Young Artist and Curator. The winner unveils will be followed by the Art Party featuring a performance from Phillip Adams BalletLab and live DJ set from NO ZU.
