Designer Rugs was started in 1986 by Yosi Tal and his parents Eli and Nurit in a 3,000 square foot factory in Marrickville, and since then have been producing rugs for some of the best designers in the country. Aside from collaborations with Australian creative powerhouses like Akira Isogawa and Catherine Martin, the legacy company supplies rugs to top tier designers such as Greg Natale, Hare + Klein, Anna Carin, Poco Designs, Lynne Bradley, Anna Spiro, Woods + Warner and Darren James.

But don’t let this prestigious pedigree intimidate you! Designer Rugs aren’t just made for serious industry stalwarts – they’re designed for people just like you and me.

Take the brand’s ever-expanding ‘Saffron’ collection, for example. Produced by Designer Rugs’ in-house design team, the new designs are inspired by landscapes, travel, craft techniques and materials, emblazoning everything from floral motifs to abstract patterns across their hand-tufted textiles. Made using lush New Zealand wool, they are as soft an addition to any room as they are beautiful!

While the standard sizes and designs in the collection are ready-made and available now, every rug in ‘Saffron’ range can be custom coloured, shaped and sized according to your desired interior scheme. All pieces are now available to view in the Designer Rugs’ showrooms in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Auckland.
