ZOOM is part-pop up, part-bouncy castle, part-augmented reality, the inflatable art piece is an all-out sensory experience in the heart of Westfield’s new fashion mall.

The art piece flips everyday perspective on its head. Giant shoes are abandoned on a bedroom floor near a stray set of eyeballs and a larger-than-life blow up burger. By taking these common items out of their expected contexts, ZOOM asks viewers to consider the world around us and our place within it. By downloading the ZOOM app from the Apple App store or Google Play Store, exhibition-goers can experience a whole new dimension to the installation, with the inflatable objects animating through the lens of a smartphone camera.

‘By enlarging everyday objects, we give the audience an opportunity to see everyday items become monuments, encouraging contemplation and questioning the values we place on such items,” said Craig Redman, Co-Founder of Craig & Karl.

Alongside creative direction by Mr Weekes and production by Kat & Co, infamous Australian artist duo Craig & Karl are the brains behind ZOOM. Initially meeting at the Queensland College of Art in Brisbane, the then-graphic designers co-founded a creative partnership in 2011. They’ve exhibited work across the world including at the Musée de la Publicité, (Paris), Onassis Cultural Centre (Athens), Liu Haisu Art Museum (Shanghai) and the Museum of the Moving Image (New York).

Be sure to zoom down to ZOOM ASAP – it closes in two weeks!
