Internationally renowned artist Bruce Munro’s interactive, large-scale installations will light up Heide Museum of Modern Art later this month.

‘Bruce Munro: From Sunrise Road’ will be the first Australian museum exhibition for the English-Australian artist, showcasing more than 20 incredible indoor works and an immersive outdoor light installation designed specifically for Heide’s iconic sculpture park.

His experimental pieces are visually spectacular and contemplative, often exploring personal, philosophical, spiritual, and shared stories in abstract ways.

The expansive outdoor installation, titled ‘Candent Spring’, stems from his celebrated Field of Light installation at Uluru in Central Australia. It will combine clusters of optical fibre ‘fireflies’ radiating out from a gleaming dome of abstract clock faces scored with codes and patterns symbolising past, present, future, infinity, and the speed of light.

Other luminescent pieces await inside Heide’s main galleries, including Ferryman’s Crossing I, a ‘river’ constructed from recycled CDs with beams of light that reflect the mirror surfaces in morse code.

Visitors can walk through the kaleidoscopic exhibition and gardens as the art comes to life after dark – with the gallery staying open until 8pm from Thursday to Saturday throughout the exhibition!

See ‘Bruce Munro: From Sunrise Road’ at Heide Museum of Modern Art from June 25 – October 16.
