Graphic designer Lucy Hearn and gold and silversmith Lily Daley are friends and collaborators. Together, they are Peaches and Keen; a creative collective who create jewellery and prints in their signature bright, graphic style. Earlier this month, the dynamic duo set up shop close to their homes in the Dandenong Ranges. Surrounded by forest, their brand new store, Botanical Calamity, brings to life their own work in addition to stocking the work of local makers such as Peta Armstrong and Bridget Bodenham.

After driving past the space every day, the girls noticed it was empty, and soon began dreaming up plans for this vacant shopfront, surrounded by trees. ‘We went from jokingly saying we should lease it, to signing the contract within about a week!’ they told us. ‘It just felt like it was meant to be.’

In addition to having a space to sell and make their goods, Lucy and Lily plan to  use the space to encourage visitors to make a day of it, and explore the local area. ‘The Dandenong Ranges have a lot more to offer than just Puffing Billy and cockatoos!’ they assure us!
