It’s easy to forget the bushfires that ravaged Australia’s east coast were just earlier this year. So much has happened in 2020! But the ongoing devastation has lasting effects on the environment – and still needs help to recover.

In response, Royal Botanic Gardens Victoria established the Biodiversity Recovery Project – an initiative raising funds to support emergency conservation efforts in fire-affected regions. This includes equipping mobile plant rescue vehicles, seed collection trips and increasing the capacity of RBGV’s labs and nurseries (a plant hospital!). The mission will help save endangered flora species that have been further imperilled by the sweeping bushfires.

To help raise funds to support this critical environmental program, John Wardle Architects has launched an online fundraising auction. Supporters can bid on limited-edition ceramics, signed books, an artist-designed flag, a weekend away on Bruny Island at the award-winning Shearer’s Quarters designed by JWA and more.
