In 2009, the Black Saturday fires swept through regional Victoria in the most deadly and destructive series of bushfires on the nation’s record. One of the properties lost was the Callignee Eco Bush Retreat, a self-contained, off-the-grid house nestled in the Gippsland bushland.

Owners Chris and Maggie Jones rebuilt the house, only to watch the current bushfires devastate neighbouring towns in the Gippsland region this summer. While the retreat was safe, the pair knew they had to something to support those affected. Today, Chris and Maggie launched an auction for a luxury Gippsland weekend with Narkoojee Winery, Stellina restaurant and Gippsland Cosmetic Laser Clinic to raise money for fire-affected areas nearby. Such a great lineup of local Gippsland talent!

The package includes two nights at the Callignee Eco Bush Retreat (which was the first house ever to be featured on Grand Designs Australia… it’s pretty epic!), lunch or dinner and a case of wine from Narkoojee Winery, a meal at Stellina Italian restaurant and a skincare package from Gippsland Cosmetic Laser Clinic.

100% of funds raised will be donated to the Gippsland Emergency Relief Fund, a volunteer-run organisation that provides immediate financial assistance to Gippslanders when they urgently need it. Bidding will be open until Sunday, February 2nd at 7pm – get on it!
