Two weeks ago, the world was rocked by the tragic explosion in Beirut that left hundreds killed and many more injured. Already a fragile country, support for Lebanon poured in from around the world.

One part of the population affected by the explosions was a group of artists. The studios of Jana Saleh, Studio Safar and Papercup bookshop lay in close proximity to the detonated sites, and were completely destroyed by the blast.

In response, an independent GoFundMe was established to elevate awareness around these destroyed workspaces and raise money to rebuild them. It worked. From there, a group of artists from Australia and New Zealand have set up Instagram account @artistsforbeirut to gather funds to contribute to the cause. Pieces from Auór, Maison Balzac, Marta Buda, Bobby Clark, Seb Brown, Sphaera, Klay, Harry and Carter Were, Suku Home, In Bed Store, Baina, Walk in the Park and more have been donated, and are up for grabs to win!

Simply make a donation to the GoFundMe portal (as it’s a European fundraiser all donations are made in euros – confusing, I know!) and send a screenshot via email to artistsforbeirut@gmail.com or DM to @artistsforbeirut. Every 10€ equates to one entry in the prize pool; so the more you donate, the more chance you have to win.

Entries close August 31st, 2020. The winners will be drawn on September 1st.

Visit Instagram account @artistsforbeirut to see prizes. For more information about the fundraiser, affected artists and where the money is going, visit this page.
