The Summer blockbuster exhibition, Escher X nendo | Between Two Worlds, brings together over 150 works by M.C Escher, one of the most influential artists of the 20th century. NGV has housed this art in eight groundbreaking spaces created by Japan’s renowned studio nendo.

The experiential installation brings to life the shifting dimensions of Escher’s work, completely immersing visitors in a world of skewed perspectives and the manipulation of geometry, space and perception.

‘The different installations vary in scale and spatial impact, enabling the visitor to experience Escher’s work in a very physical way’, explains Oki Sato, chief designer and founder of nendo, ‘It’s as if they are walking inside Escher’s mind, but seeing the exhibition through their own eyes.’

The NGV has also brought Melbourne-based fashion house Alpha60, ceramicist James Lemon, and jeweller Phebe Parisia on board to create a collection of design wares drawing on works from Escher X nendo | Between Two Worlds. This range is available exclusively from the NGV Design Store.
