No, not the magicians!

The eight-man arena spectacular magic show The Illusionists were not the only mind-warping artists to present a show in Melbourne last week!

On a slightly smaller (but equally impressive) scale, 14 Australian and international artists are showing work in Illusions, an exhibition exploring distortion and perspective at Backwoods Gallery in Collingwood. Curated by Tom Groves, the works in Illusions span across a wide variety of mediums, from infrared Palm Springs photography by Kate Ballis to illuminated acrylic light boxes by Auckland-based Karyn Taylor.

The dizzying display of works is Backwoods Gallery’s first exhibition for 2019, featuring an eclectic yet cohesive curation of pieces from Brendan Monroe, Kate Ballis, Fintan Magee, Lucas Grogan, BLO (DMV), Moneyless, Fun Skull, Matt Coyle, Kate Banazi, Martina Merlini, Karifurava, Kyle Hughes-Odgers, TWOONE and Karyn Taylor.
