A three-fold collaboration between the Museum of Contemporary Art, From St Xavier and Sydney-based artist Nell (pictured)  has resulted in a pair of limited edition, bright beaded bags that look like a sunset was spilled on them!

With ethical and social conscience as core pillars of the brand, From St Xavier make all products in North India under strict regulations, upholding the responsibilities of fair trade and investing in underprivileged communities. Their brand generates sustainable income for over 500 women.

Nell’s sequinned, shimmery work, ‘Ultimate Radiance’, is part of the MCA’s permanent collection, and served as aesthetic inspiration for the design. ‘I thought the work looked like an oversized, kinetic glow-mesh purse,’ Nell says of the original work, made in 2000, ‘It’s been great to see it literally transformed into a beautiful, handmade clutch.’

With innovative collabs that integrate local labels with MCA artists, and such SHINY outcomes, it’s no wonder the MCA Store was recently voted one of the Top 10 museum stores in the world!

You can find these limited edition pieces online at store.mca.com.au/ or in real life at The Museum of Contemporary Art in Sydney.
