Letter from the Editor
It’s been another crazy busy couple of weeks in my world – what’s new!? I found myself travelling interstate, to Sydney and Byron Bay, for two upcoming content collaborations, and attending a few important events, like the Dulux Colour Awards last week (where I joined Adnate on a scissor lift as he painted a nine-metre mural – a little out of the comfort zone!).
ANYWAY. One recent highlight which we loved working on, is a beautiful series of candid conversations between inspiring mother-daughter duos. On Friday morning, artist Beci Orpin and her legendary mum, political activist Marg D’Arcy, let us into their sweet, hilarious and heartwarming mother-daughter dynamic. Then, we followed up on Sunday with a wonderful profile on art curator and Indigenous rights activist Hetti Perkins, and her daughter, film actress Madeleine Madden, (the daughter and granddaughter of revered Indigenous rights activist Charlie Perkins, respectively). Now that’s one seriously amazing family.
This time last week I was up in Byron Bay with the old TDF production gang – Eve Wilson and our video crew SIRAP – working on an upcoming food series with chef Shannon Bennett (!) in his gorgeous Byron home. It was NEXT LEVEL, and we can’t wait to bring you his recipes soon!
While up North, I also popped in to visit the one and only Courtney Adamo at her home in Bangalow, which was every bit as beautiful as you think it would be (we featured the Adamo home last year, a story that was so popular it basically crashed our website). Courtney recorded a podcast episode for us (coming soon) and I made an impromptu appearance in a short video for her amazing new five-week e-course covering all things family and lifestyle, The Loop! If you can’t wait until our podcast comes out for your Adamo fix, check out her incredible kids’ cubby house we had up on the site on Friday.
Over in Sydney we announced our very first Sydney TDF Talks series in partnership with Fisher & Paykel! I’ll be chatting with comedian Tim Ross, and revered architect and arts patron Penelope Seidler in June and July respectively – if you’re in Sydney, please join us! Tickets are available here.
Oh and speaking of brand new ventures – there is only ONE MONTH until entries close for our TDF Design Awards! We’re so excited about uncovering and championing Australian design and creativity with this new awards program, There’s $30,000 worth of prize money up for grabs! Enter now.
