Letter from the Editor

21st December, 2018

To state the obvious… it’s officially LESS. THAN. A. WEEK until Christmas.

Even though this time of year is so crazy, I can’t help but stop to take stock of The Year That Was and feel… exhausted. And proud! Equal parts exhausted and proud! In 2018 we delivered TDF readers more (quantity and quality!) content than ever. And this week was no exception!

This week, we hit you with a double dose of recipes from Alice & Marlon – a perfect pickled onion to jazz up your summer cheese boards, and a boozy preserved pear to throw you well and truly into the festive spirit.

Part-time Skenes Creek local and design aficionado Jenna Densten (of Josh and Jenna fame) shared her top spots in a beach getaway guide of The Great Ocean Road, just in time for road trip season!

We also *just* released our annual reader survey. We go through every single response and tailor our editorial plan for the new year based on your feedback, so let us know what you loved and what you didn’t. Let’s be real though – filling in surveys can be a bit of a snoozefest, so we’ve made it worth your while with a HUGE GIVEAWAY! We’re offering one special TDF reader (and their lucky friend!) a chance to win an incredible trip to New Zealand, to coincide with the 2019 Auckland Art Fair. DO IT!

And now, we’re outta here for two weeks (full disclosure… as you read this, we’re already two hours deep into our Christmas party!). But don’t worry, we’ve prepped a daily dose of TDF for you in our absence. We’ll be revisiting the most popular home tours, gardens, residential architecture projects, and small business learnings from 2018, as well as summarising our top travel itineraries and recipe round-ups, to see you through the holiday period.

Now what are you doing reading this?! Shut down your computer, put away your phone and raise a glass to an EPIC year!
