Isn’t it crazy how things grow.
I started The Design Files as a very simple little personal blog back in 2008. Back then, it was just me on my couch with my laptop. No office, no team, no photographers, no video crew – no real plan.
Today, The Design Files feels a lot more ‘serious’. Though, in truth, it’s more like a really busy creative family than a business. We have a core team of 5 amazing staff (check ‘em out here), more than 10 columnists and regular contributors, and a network of insanely talented freelance photographers and video crew, all of whom have enriched this site beyond what I ever imagined.
And, of course, we’re always growing. After almost a year in development, we have a new look! We’ve freshened up our homepage, archive pages and story layouts to do justice to the spectacular photography and video that our crew consistently produce. We’ve added shorter NEWS pieces, to ensure we’re keeping you up to date with timely events and exhibitions. We’re in the process of hiring two new staff – which is nerve-wracking (I get so nervous interviewing people) and exciting (imagine what amazing things we’ll be able to do with two more awesome people in our team!).
I’ve always said that TDF feels like it knows where it’s going, and I’m always racing to keep up. It felt that way from day one, and it still feels that way now. That’s the thing about businesses, big or small, fast or slow – they just want to grow.
So… thankyou for reading, and keeping us challenged and inspired to keep moving! We’re excited to unveil more exhibitions, pop-ups, inspiring stories and videos over the rest of the year, and we couldn’t do any of this without your constant support, your readership, your follows and likes! We appreciate it more than you know – THANKYOU!
