Kate Heppell of beloved Australian home brand Kip&Co has built a career out of her eye for colour, pattern, and joyful details, as seen in her delightful Sorrento home that’s just hit the market!

The 1970s beach house has been the holiday house of Kate, her partner Mal Heppell of DMS Landscape Architecture, and children Zig, Fern, Viv, since 2016.

Over the years they’ve made several cosmetic updates to the once humble house, including installing new windows for more light, and retiling the kitchen, pantry, and bathroom for plenty of added colour.

The couple were also responsible for adding the timber shingles to the exterior (an update that marked a HUGE improvement to the facade) and completing a major overhaul of the garden. The Heppell kids love toasting marshmallows around the vintage, brass outdoor fireplace Mal installed!

When asked what she’ll miss about this house, Kate reflects on the incredible memories the property has provided her family and friends. ‘Sorrento offers endless, and I mean endless, activities,’ she says. ‘From sailing lessons for the kids, to the polo, boating, restaurants, great markets, the springs just a few kilometres down the road. There’s the back beach for surfing and the most stunning rock pools, the front beach for playing with the kids and dog walks, pier fishing, swimming with dolphins, and some of the best coastal walks around.’

The house contains three bedrooms, one bathroom, and is nestled back from the road on a 919 square metre block.
