This lush new range from painterly-print wizards Bonnie and Neil is aptly-named.

With its lush jungle-inspired motifs, ‘Evergreen’ might just be the remedy for the black thumbs out there – you who’ve been swooning over all those plant-filled homes we’ve been featuring of late, but (like me) are still bearing the bruises of your past plant-icides.

Designer, studio co-founder and former florist Bonnie Ashley took a few minutes to share the inspiration for this new collection of soft furnishings, prints and vases.

What ‘s been inspiring you lately?

Those who are familiar with our brand will know it’s no secret that Bonnie and Neil designs are often inspired by plant life! My background as a florist, and keen interest in working with plants means that greenery plays a leading role in our seasonal collections.

Our latest release, ‘Evergreen’ gives foliage a place in the home all year round. Inspired by jungle scenes, there is also a nod to Australia’s rainforests, in a new yardage print featuring delicate palms. The range also features gold foiled bees, butterflies and flowers mixed with leopard patterns, giving it an opulent edge.

What do you love most about this new range?

My favourite design in the range is a printed linen featuring a leopard within a palm-filled landscape scene. This artwork first appeared in a marquee we worked on for the 2017 Melbourne Cup Carnival. I hand painted the original, then printed it on linen to get a life-like hand-painted effect.  We were really pleased with the result, and can’t wait to see it now appearing in homes around Australia (and beyond!).

New to the collection this season is also a repeatable printed fabric design, ‘Palms’, which can be purchased by-the-metre for upholstery purposes.

How is ‘Evergreen’ different to your past collections?

While our previous seasons have a strong bird presence, and native Australian animals have also featured, this is the first time we’ve worked with jungle animals (tigers and leopards). They fit in so well with our jungle-inspired patterns of the past.

Whats next for Bonnie and Neil?

Every year gets busier!!

We’re working on new vinyl rug designs, which will launch mid-year, and have two new collections in development with collaborators that we can’t wait to share.
