We’re more than a little nostalgic today to be wrapping up ‘A Life Individual’, our 6-part film series created in partnership with Space. It’s been an inspiring six months capturing the most brilliant line up of diverse homes and creative homeowners in Melbourne, Sydney and beyond, all united by a passion for great design, and a distinct sense of individuality.

We’re signing off the series today with a truly remarkable residence. The home of interior designer Gillianne Griffiths of Studio Griffiths and her husband Allan Griffiths in Main Ridge is a jaw-droppingly beautiful property – a contemporary, architectural home set amongst the picturesque landscape of the Mornington Peninsula. Here, grand proportions and a robust materials palette of concrete and timber are softened by a cosy, ‘ski lodge’ inspired interior.

Having been a professional musician in her previous career, Gillianne has a unique approach to interior design. In part, building a home outside of Melbourne has been inspired by her desire to return to the piano, after a long career as a concert pianist and conductor. The designer speaks passionately about the ways in which music and design go hand in hand – each discipline being concerned with composition, a sense of rhythm, and harmony.
