Photographer, stylist and author Kara Rosenlund is one of our favourite Australian creatives. She is intensely passionate about her work, and she is never not busy!

We love Kara’s new series of limited edition photographic prints called WILD. For this series, Kara has returned to the open road, exploring Australian beach landscapes.

Kara Rosenlund is never not busy. That’s the way she likes it. She loves her work, and lives and breathes it. We recently documented the sweet timber cottage in Brisbane’s Nundah that she shares with her husband Timothy O, a place that pays tribute to her deep connection with Australia, and her adventures far and wide. Last year Kara released her first book called Shelter, that shares a similar focus, documenting how Australians live.

Kara’s latest project is WILD, a series of limited edition photographic prints that she has been working on for the past year. ‘After finishing my book Shelter, I wanted to continue to experience that freedom of being on the road; seeing, photographing and being close to the land I love,’ explains Kara. ‘I decided to keep the visual conversation going, which enabled me to reconnect with the Australian landscape.’

For this series, Kara sought out local but often overlooked Australian beaches as part of the landscapes documented. Her impetus was to capture the essence of a place in nature without much fuss, so that the viewer could feel connected to the place without any distraction. ‘I wanted to create a body of work that allows you to feel nature without a heavy narrative,’ she says. ‘I love how I feel when I’m connected to the landscape when I’m amongst it, so I wanted viewers to feel the same way.’

Now that the series has launched, Kara is already onto her next project – a small range of homewares she has designed that pays tribute to the craftsmen and women of our country. ‘I want to bring beautiful handmade objects with purpose back into every day use, having a handmade object to use each day is a true luxury!’ We’ll keep you posted!

Kara Rosenlund’s range of limited edition photographic prints from her WILD series are available here.
