This rambling farm house in Margaret River, WA, has been home to the Zoric family for six and a half years. Surrounded by acres of leafy scenery, the house sits on a block which was subdivided from adjoining farmland about 40 years ago. It’s a unique place to live, with a special sense of nostalgia for Georgia.

‘The property originally belonged to friends of my Mother’ explains Georgia. ‘There were two gorgeous farm houses, a huge barn and a beautiful garden cottage on the property, and my Mum lived here for a few years when our first baby was born. We would come down for holidays. My sister and her husband first bought half the property, and then we bought the other half a couple of years later to keep it in the family. When we moved here, the kids already felt at home. It made the transition very easy.’

Though they have given the home a few DIY updates since first moving here, Peter and Georgia’s major renovation is actually planned for next year. With the help of a local draftsman they have designed a new ‘wing’ which will house a brand new kitchen, dining room and laundry, as well as a fourth bedroom and ensuite. Georgia is most excited also to be adding a second storey to the house, which will mean a home office for Peter, and a rooftop garden too!

Peter and Georgia’s home is filled with much loved antiques, which they have been collecting since they first started dating over twenty years ago. ‘Our style has never truly changed’ says Georgia. Their English farmhouse dining table is an especially treasured find, at over 3 metres long, it comfortably seats twelve and is the heart of the home. Georgia is also a big supporter of local artists and makers, with artwork by her two favourite WA artists, Linda Skrolys and Lauren Wilhelm proudly on display here, alongside a few of her own paintings.

Peter and Georgia love the simplicity and privacy of their life here. ‘We have ten acres settled amongst farming pastures and bush reserve with no neighbours!’ Georgia says. ‘When we first moved here, it was only for 2 to 3 years, but when the time came to leave, the kids all pleaded with us to stay, saying they were country kids now. I love that it was their choice as well as ours to live here’.

Having a home like this has also enabled the Zoric family to be close to nature, something they are passionate about. ‘I love that our house is full of whatever wild life needs our help on any given day’ says Georgia. Right now, the family are caring for a young baby Magpie. They also have eight guinea fowl, three peacocks, 4 ferrets and a poodle called Berry! ‘The kids and I want a python too, but my husband is putting his foot down!’ Georgia says!
