You might recall last year, in the lead up to the Melbourne Fashion Festival, we shared some seriously stunning interiors created by Dulux in collaboration with various Australian Fashion Designers, in a project called United by Style.  Inspired by the link between fashion and interiors trends, United by Style celebrates creative use of colour in the broadest sense.  This colourful collaboration results in a number of incredible styled interiors, inspired by the runway collections of some of Australia’s favourite fashion designers. WELL, with the Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival gearing up again this month, United by Style is back for a second year… and I have to say, they really have outdone themselves this year!  Pairing up with much loved Melbourne fashion designer Lisa Gorman of Gorman, and Sydney’s irreverent, dynamic design duo, Anna Plunkett and Luke Sales of Romance Was Born, Dulux' head stylist Bree Leech has created a series of bold interiors, full of dense, layered colour and pattern. An obvious choice for this inspired collaboration, Lisa Gorman’s creative process is always driven by colour. ‘Each new collection starts with colour, first and foremost’ she says.  Known for her cheerful, quirky prints, Lisa approached this collaboration by drawing on the pattern and colours in her Autumn Winter range, Winter Harvest. ‘It features rich colours like gold, deep greens, aubergine, navy, and the room also incorporates a lot of wood, ceramics and weaving, to create a cosy space which warm the cockles of the heart’ says Lisa. The botanical references and winter vegetables in Gorman’s latest collection also creep into these interior spaces, giving them a distinctly homely, ‘farmhouse’ feel. At the other end of the spectrum, Anna Plunkett and Luke Sales from Romance was Born have inspired vivid, almost hyperreal interiors, given context with a beautiful edit of mid-century furniture and locally produced glass pendant lights. ‘The interior styling for this project was influenced by the strong, contrasting colours and the graphic nature of our prints -  including the bright illustrations and symbols in our Autumn Winter 2014 collection, Dream On’ say Anna and Luke.  ‘Our relationship with colour is paramount and personal’ Anna says, when asked about the role colour plays in the design process at Romance Was Born.  ‘We’re very passionate about colour, and the emotion it evokes in our designs and our everyday life’. For a closer look at the collections that inspired these eye-popping interiors, you can check out both Romance Was Born and Gorman at VAMFF this month in Melbourne.  Romance Was Born's AW14 collection, Dream On, will feature alongside other David Jones designers as a part of the Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival Opening Event on Monday March 17th. Gorman's AW14 collection, Winter Harvest, will feature on the Festival's Premium Runway 3 on Wednesday, March 19th.  All tickets and other info can be found here!
