Making Good began when Sydney friends and long time creative collaborators Mary Libro and Samuel Szwarcbord went looking for the perfect wall calendar. From this first collaboration, an ongoing collection of printed and paper products has developed. Mary and Sam are each experienced designers in their respective fields - Mary came to graphic design from a fine arts degree, and has headed up her own design agency for many years, whilst Sam comes from an architecture background but has spent the past few years in production and graphic design.  After first discussing the idea of a collaboration in June last year, they launched Making Good almost exactly a year ago, in November 2012. 'We have varied skills, which overlap at points' explains Sam of the pair's complementary skill sets.  'Mary is amazing with patterns and colour, which has led to a serious of custom print wallpapers with Fratelli Paradiso'.  For his part, Sam has a talent for packaging and product design, and for the understanding how things go together. Mary and Sam like to design ordinary, everyday things - the objects we use every day. Making Good aims to build a core range of functional products that are continuously available, while releasing seasonal colours, products and patterns to complement this core range. '...and since we can get tangental at times I'm sure we will release a few products along the way that even we aren't expecting' says Mary! So what's next for Making Good?  Well, as it happens, about six months ago over a long lunch, Mary and Sam wrote a long list of all the home and studio products they would like to produce. 'We just want to get cranking on as much of that as possible' says Mary.  In the pipeline are some larger homewares based items, some more textiles and other print based stationery products. Watch this space! Making Good can be found at Mr Kitly and After Store in Melbourne, and Blood Orange, Koskela and Kido in Sydney. And of course, they sell online too!
