It's nearly 6 years since I first started writing this blog and I must admit, I still get a bit of a rush when I discover a brand new local design collaboration!  It always feel like a total WIN everytime someone new pops up on my radar, and today is one of those days.  I am super excited to introduce this brilliant local collaboration - say hello to the clever team behind MadeMeasure! MadeMeasure specialises in quality handcrafted leather goods, handcrafted in Melbourne.  It's a creative collaboration between Paul Kinny and Christina Teresinski  - and if that name sounds familiar, that's because Christina's other business is the very fabulous Best in Park! (Where all the most stylish Australian pooches shop!) Christina comes from a brand marketing background, having also worked in product design for various brands in the fashion and the beauty industries before launching Best in Park in 2009. Paul studied apparel production and pattern making, mastering his craft under the watchful eye of a local leather craftsman and cobbler.  The pair originally met when Christina was first starting Best in Park, and for the last three years Paul has been responsible for crafting a lot of the products for her designer range of pet accessories. 'We quickly established that we enjoy collaborating and seeing products come to life from concept to launch' explains Christina of their working relationship. 'We saw MadeMeasure as an opportunity to combine both our skills, passion and experience'.  The pair collaborate equally on product development and design, whilst Paul is the craftsman, and handles manufacturing, and Christina takes care of marketing, clients and day to day operations. 'We both love working with leather, we love its tactile nature and the way it gains character over time' says Christina.  The pair are also passionate about supporting local craftsmanship, particularly leather based design and manufacturing.  At this stage their whole range is handcrafted by Paul in the pair's shared studio in Brunswick. The MadeMeasure ready-to-order range includes leather joinery handles such as drawer pulls and tabs starting at $19.00 ( ...those beautiful recessed drawer pulls below, so good!), alongside handcrafted leather tech accessories which start at $95.00. All goods are created using high-grade leather, and made to last, with great care taken in the construction, stitching and finishing of the range. Paul and Christina also welcome bespoke orders for interior design or other projects - simply get in touch via their website! Above all, what's most refreshing about MadeMeasure is its pared back design approach - for Paul and Christina, understatement is the key. 'Our products are simple, usable and honest' says Christina.  'Our approach is quality over quantity, and simplicity in form and function'. I am a bit excited to let you know that we will be stocking MadeMeasure's stunning tech accessories at TDF Open House in both Melbourne and Sydney... and.. there's a mini collaboration in the works too!  I'm working closely with Paul and Christina to commission a small range of custom leather accessories especially for Open House - watch this space!
